Burt McMillan
Bart McMillan leads the International Trade Compliance sub-practice in the Chicago office within North America International Business Practices. He advises U.S. and non-U.S. companies on international trade compliance issues arising under U.S. export controls, trade sanctions, anti-boycott regulations, and U.S. customs laws on classification, valuation, country of origin, and free trade agreements. Advice. Protecting Intellectual Property at U.S. Borders. He also handles anti-bribery and professional commercial compliance matters in sales and promotion under the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), non-U.S. anti-bribery laws, and non-U.S. commercial law. Mr. McMillan has worked with Baker McKenzie throughout his legal career, and in 2004 was based in the firm’s Washington, DC office. He is a frequent speaker on international trade compliance issues at seminars, conferences, and corporate training events. While earning his Juris Doctor degree from the NYU School of Law, Mr. McMillan served as Staff Editor (1997-98) and Associate Editor (1998-99) of the New York University Law Review. He participated in a semester exchange (law department) at Central European University (Budapest).
