For the first time in history, Ukraine has its own pavilion at the annual UN climate conference. [a] Maxim Timchenko, CEO of DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private energy investor, said: energy monitor at COP27.
He argued that DTEK could achieve its 2040 climate neutrality goals and that war and its economic impact would provide an opportunity to ‘start from scratch’ in some industries, creating a ‘clean green steel’ business, for example. I’m sure
“I think there is good reason to say that by 2030, by 2035, the country will produce 100% clean energy,” Timchenko said in Sharm El Sheikh. “We will not change our goal of becoming climate neutral by 2040.”
Timchenko is similarly optimistic about the outlook for foreign direct investment (FDI). “We are still talking quite a lot with potential partners to build and invest in Ukraine,” he says. Talks are already underway to develop a “political-military risk insurance” for investments in Ukraine, he added. “I think so [the] A new Ukraine could be built with a very important role for the private sector. ”
