・Aiming to become a carbon neutral company by 2025
– Aurangabad’s first green energy vehicle factory
The Volkswagen Group’s Aurangabad manufacturing plant has converted to 100% green energy, significantly exceeding its 2025 target. SAVWIPL (Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited) has taken an important step towards achieving the group’s goTOzero mission.
With this transition, Skoda’s Aurangabad plant will achieve an annual CO2 reduction of approximately 48%. By replacing the external energy supply with renewable energy from his MSEDCL, SAVWIPL’s Aurangabad plant became the first automotive facility in Aurangabad to be certified as a Green Energy Plant by MSEDCL.
In early 2018, the plant increased its green energy usage capacity and commissioned a 980kWp rooftop solar power plant to meet 40% of its annual energy demand.
Taking this opportunity, Piyush Arora, MD and CEO of SAVWIPL said: It is also the basis of our manufacturing process. At the Volkswagen Group, “goTOzero” is not only a roadmap for effective climate protection, but also an essential strategic initiative towards sustainability mobility. ”
He further added: We are extremely proud to have achieved 100% Green Energy Certification for our Aurangabad facility well ahead of our target date. This feat brings us closer to our goal of becoming carbon neutral in our manufacturing operations by the late 2010s and will drive our green future initiatives forward. ”
