Salvation Army Encourages Companies to Participate in Corporate Red Kettle Challenge
Well, it’s giving season, and today the Salvation Army is encouraging locals to compete and give back. KETV NEWSWATCH 7. JOSH KRISTIANTO LIVE DETAILS. Josh. That’s right, everyone. I’m here at the Union Pacific Center in downtown Omaha. Here, the company and the Salvation Army made a big announcement. And we invite Lance Fritz, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Union Pacific, to make the announcement again. Mr. Tell me, Fritz. Well, just today we were trying to raise $50,000 as part of the Corporate Red Kettle Challenge, and the absolute number is his $440,000 raised today. And it’s incredible. That’s almost double what you’re shooting for. What does it mean for your company to participate in this? It is very important to UNION PACIFIC that we and the communities in which we live are healthy and vibrant. And the Salvation Army is doing a great job here in Omaha helping those who need it most in our communities. Let’s talk about the people most involved in IT. I have a Salvation Army major. Greg Thompson can you tell us a little bit about what this money means to you. Well, money really means we live in a generous community. It follows our generosity to the most marginalized lives in our community and truly nurtures them and allows us to not only succeed but give them opportunities this Christmas. There may also be life successes throughout the year. Money doesn’t just add to what we do for Christmas. It helps us throughout the year. And how great is the need? If you could tell me that. interesting. All it takes is shifting and balancing in different ways. But this year, from a working poor perspective, I think inflation had a big impact on most people. They were doing well, but then food prices, gas prices, fuel, and heating costs took away all the ways they felt more stable in their lives. and MR. Fritz, your employees were also invited to participate today, right? absolutely. Now accepts any gift of $25 or more in addition to the amount Union Pacific puts into the pot. please. An incredible amount of nearly $500,000 was raised today. And again, the money will go towards the Salvation Army’s efforts to help families in need of food, housing and medical services. And it certainly got a boost today. Awesome. Thank you, Josh.
