The school board says these state bills are harmful to people of color and LGBTQ+ students and families. “This resolution is very important because it tells lawmakers in Harrisburg that we cannot decide how we educate our students and the environment we create for them. I think it’s important,” said Devon Taliaferro, president of Pittsburgh Public Schools. “We can’t judge what’s going on in our schools, cities, and classrooms in parts of the state we’ve never been to. impedes the accurate teaching of history, and by banning classrooms, threatens the ability of the PPS to continue to build a culture of belonging. We are the districts that support it.” The school board says it wants all students and educators to be their true selves.They plan to send this resolution to bill sponsors and the governor. .
