PMA CEO Debbie Sorensen said it was essential to deploy the PACMAT team on the mission to assist Niue in its Covid-19 response.
“We are working closely with MFAT to address the needs of the Niuean government. We plan to deploy a team of three Niuean nurses and a doctor.
We have a long standing relationship with the government of Niue and are committed to helping the island nation if it needs help. ”
PMA Group board director Sir Collin Tukuitonga KNZM, FNZCPHM said the PACMAT team will be a great asset in supporting the current Covid-19 outbreak in Niue.
“With the current wave of Covid-19 in Niue, this will be a busy time for health workers on the island.
Having the PMA deploy a PACMAT team to provide support means lessening the burden on medical staff. Not only are they a Niue team, but they also have experience in surviving his Covid-19 pandemic in New Zealand. ”
The PACMAT Niue team will be dispatched to the island next Saturday, December 17, 2022.
