The Football Association of Ireland has launched a new app to keep players, fans, clubs and match officials up-to-date on Northern Ireland matches.
The free Football NI app provides users with information on all relevant football fixtures, results, team lineups, match events and other statistics in the country.
Now available for download, you can use this app to track teams, players, games and competitions. This allows players to see individual profiles and allows users to receive notifications whenever a match event related to their selected favorites is recorded in the Irish FA’s Comet football management system.
This app is the true first app for Northern Ireland football. Ireland’s FA is embracing technology in ways that help the football community here.Provides better access to results and match information while the game is on
Once the referee completes post-match management, the app automatically populates relevant information, but features are also available that allow clubs to update match events in ‘real-time’ during matches.

Clubs may insert goalscorers, substitutes, yellow or red cards, but it is the referee’s responsibility to explain the reasons for the disciplinary action.
Appointed referees are also responsible for ensuring that the match information entered by the club matches their own records before declaring the match status ‘played’.
Ireland FA’s Head of Competitions and Player Status, Andrew Johnston, said: His FA in Ireland embraces technology in a way that helps the football community here. Better access to results and match information while the game is on.
“The launch of Football NI reaffirms the association’s commitment to becoming a digital-first organization, as outlined in its current corporate strategy, Football Roadmap.”
Tracey Scott, the association’s Football Management System (FMS) Operations Manager, added: It really is for everyone and we see it as a tool for people in Northern Ireland to enjoy football.
“We have been in touch with over 5000 existing Comet users across leagues, divisional associations, clubs and referees and have invited them to training webinars to demonstrate the functionality within the app and have been working with them throughout November. We will continue to offer webinars.”
A new application for mobile devices has been developed by the Ireland FA in partnership with Analyticom, a state-of-the-art, market-leading solution for the management and automation of key operations in sports associations and leagues.
Football NI hosts statistics for all football competitions belonging to the Irish FA within Northern Ireland.
The Ireland FA is offering training webinars for leagues, divisional associations, clubs and match officials as part of the app launch process.
