Canned food is generally legal in many US states. After 21 years of sobriety, a school district in Missouri is now reintroducing it at the request of some parents.
This is the latest example of a return to radical conservative methods in some parts of America, especially in schools. But the move is particularly controversial, even where Donald Trump’s Republican Party dominates.

The small town of Cassville is located in Midwestern Missouri. Ever since canned food was revived in principle here, school board director Marilyn Johnson has had to justify herself. claimed to do so only if allowed.
This can only be selected if the parents agree. If you don’t want your child to be physically punished, you disagree.
Parents demand corporal punishment
Why go back to canning? With a lack of discipline resulting in more and more students being expelled from classes in recent years, Johnson said:
This was one of several suggestions involving parents to prevent expulsion from class: corporal punishment.
It involves hitting a child’s bottom with a wooden paddle. It’s a discipline that has a long tradition in the United States, but many parents attribute it to the middle of the last century.
And from Miranda Waltrip, mother of three Cassville children, “I don’t think it’s fair,” she says. “Many kids here come from poor environments where their parents don’t take care of themselves. They’re better off offering advice and care. For some, spanking is a return to the good old days.” May be. But no, it is to the detriment of good.”
Dylan Barnes, whose children also attend school in Cassville, believes this approach is correct. She trusts teachers and school officials. Do nothing. We as parents don’t want that. ”

In 1977, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that caning in schools is constitutional. The decision is left up to individual states. Corporal punishment is generally permitted in schools in 19 states.
In Texas, for example, the application is again hotly debated, and in some cases by members of President Joe Biden’s Democratic Party. Ron Reynolds is the Democratic Representative for the Texas House of Representatives. “I think it should be implemented,” he says.
Prayer is needed at school. And we need corporal punishment.
Teacher Arnetta Murray, who is also involved in school politics in Texas, rebukes: I don’t want it all together. can! “He has four sons and one daughter.
We need to get back to the heart of the matter: parental responsibility. The problem lies with the parents.
As with many issues in the United States at this time, the debate is intense, lively, and divisive.
