Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of the Kenan-Flagler MBA curriculum or program that led you to choose this business school, and why was it important? The rigorous healthcare aspect of the UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA program was very important to me. My father struggled with life-changing health issues, so my passion for healthcare remained constant throughout my life. The doctors, nurses and professionals who gave him a fighting chance were the driving force behind my decision to specialize in the healthcare industry. Healthcare Concentration at UNC Kenan-Flagler gives healthcare providers and payers a clearer picture of the operational challenges facing them from a U.S. and global perspective. This will strengthen my expertise in the healthcare field and allow me to grow my career as a healthcare consultant.
What are your first impressions of the Kenan-Flagler MBA students and alumni you’ve met? Tell us your best Kenan Flagler story so far. During the admissions process, I spoke with several Kenan-Flagler alumni at UNC, and they said, “Kenan-Flagler is more than just an MBA program, it’s home.” It was a sigh of relief when I stepped into the McColl Building on the first day of orientation. I was home at last. I realized this even more when I went to a dinner party later that day.I’m really excited and motivated to be part of the UNC Kenan-Flagler community, but this is just the beginning!
What course, club or activity in Kenan-Flagler excites you most? The Carolina Women in Business and Consulting Club are two (of many) clubs that have me excited at UNC Kenan-Flagler. They represent my greatest passion and that includes supporting women in the workplace in general and consulting more specifically. As a woman with a career goal of becoming a partner in a consulting firm, it’s important to keep taking steps to break the glass ceiling, and both of these clubs are doing just that. I look forward to strengthening my business acumen and healthcare knowledge through core classes and electives focused on and global jewelry care.
What has been your greatest accomplishment in your career so far? Overall, the biggest achievement in my career so far has been a position with a top consulting firm. My drive to tackle difficult business problems comes from his two parents who are entrepreneurs. From there I fell in love with consulting because I wanted to help organizations remove the same barriers my parents faced starting the company.
In light of a specific consulting project, in his most recent role at Deloitte, he led the organizational design of the North American Shared Services Center and identified over $3 million in labor cost efficiencies. What have you read, seen, or heard recently that you would strongly recommend to an aspiring MBA? Why? For meditation and relaxation, we highly recommend the “Calm” app. During the enrollment process, I juggled work, family, friends, and self-care, but spending a few minutes a day listening to this app really centered on me.
Looking two years ahead, what will make your MBA experience successful? Fast forward two years and my MBA experience will be great if I can build relationships with great classmates, learn all things business and healthcare, and strengthen my leadership skills to become a corporate partner, which is my long-term career goal. You will succeed. consulting company.
