In November, the FDA released a final rule on food traceability, an important future food safety requirement. To familiarize you with the rules, the agency will host a webinar on Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 1:00 p.m. ET to 5:00 p.m. ET.
At the heart of the regulation is the Food Traceability List (FTL). It focuses on the food categories responsible for many, if not most, of the FDA’s recent recalls. Nut butters, ready-to-eat deli salads, cheeses and seafood products.
A key requirement of the final rule is that all companies that manufacture, process, package, or hold products in the FTL must maintain records that include key data elements (KDEs) related to significant traceability events (CTEs). is that there is In the event of an incident, covered businesses, farms, food retailers, and restaurants must provide information to FDA within 24 hours.
