Philippe François Mathieu has been appointed Senior Vice President of Exploration and Production International, effective January 1, 2023.
Mathieu will succeed Al Cook, who will be leaving the company to pursue an outside CEO position. Mathieu holds the position of Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy.

Philippe Mathieu says:
Since joining Equinor in 1995, Mathieu has held several senior leadership roles in multiple business areas and geographies. Before his role as SVP Corporate Strategy, from 2016 until 2019 he was SVP Joint Operations Support in Exploration and Production Norway and from 2014 until 2016 he was SVP Corporate Finance served. and SVP Business Development Midstream Infrastructure 2011-2014.
He has also held several senior positions in marketing and supply in commercializing gas contracts in both North Africa and Europe, including a post in Algeria.
Mathieu holds a degree in civil engineering from the Ecole Nationale des Travaux Publics de l’Etat and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Lumiere Lyon and the University of California, Berkeley.
