Philippe François Mathieu has been appointed Executive Vice President of Exploration and Production International (EPI), effective January 1, 2023.
Mathieu will succeed Al Cook, who plans to leave the company to pursue an outside CEO position. Mathieu is Senior Vice President responsible for corporate strategy.

Philippe F. Mathieu says:
Since joining Equinor in 1995, Mathieu has held several senior management positions in multiple business areas and geographies.
Prior to his role as SVP Corporate Strategy, he was SVP Joint Operations Support in the Norwegian Exploration and Production sector from 2016 to 2019, SVP Corporate Finance from 2014 to 2016, and SVP Business from 2011 to 2014. I was responsible for development midstream infrastructure.
He has also held several senior positions in marketing and supply in commercializing gas contracts in both North Africa and Europe, including a post in Algeria.
Mathieu holds a degree in civil engineering from the Ecole Nationale des Travaux Publics de l’Etat and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Lumiere Lyon and the University of California, Berkeley.
