ENGIE and Google will build a 100 MW enterprise pPower Purchase Agreement (CPPA) to support Moray West offshore wind development.
ENGIE will provide Google with over 5 TWh of green power from the Moray West project, an approximately 900 MW offshore wind farm. Power generation is scheduled to start in 2025.
Moray West is part of a portfolio being developed by Ocean Winds, a 50/50 joint venture dedicated to offshore wind owned by EDPR Renewables and ENGIE. Located in Moray Firth off the coast of Scotland, the project will provide 882 MW of renewable green energy. With this deal, ENGIE, Google and Ocean Winds are supporting the UK’s ambitious energy transition goals.
“People in the UK and Europe are increasingly concerned about climate change and energy security. We share that concern and believe technology is a key part of the solution – reducing our own emissions and helping others reduce their own emissions. by both“ declare Matt BRITTIN, President, Google EMEA,addition: “This new investment in renewable energy for the UK brings us one step closer to our goal of running entirely carbon-free by 2030, meaning the UK will run on 90% or close to carbon-free energy. To do. In 2025. ”
“This PPA represents the realization of offshore wind as a powerful energy source that can meet the high energy demands and carbon neutrality goals of countries and clients. Ocean Winds is proud to accompany Google on this journey and work with ENGIE to achieve this successful commercial achievement. With over 6 GW of offshore wind projects currently under development, construction or operation in the UK, Ocean Winds is an active participant in the much-needed clean energy transition. “, To tell Bautista Rodriguez, CEO of Oceanwinds.
“We are very happy to support Google’s efforts towards its carbon-free goal. As a major player in PPAs, ENGIE designs innovative green corporate PPAs for offtakers from offshore wind as well as onshore renewable projects, thanks to the strong development of Ocean Winds. The deal demonstrates the strength of the Group’s renewable portfolio. 37 GW of renewable assets will be a significant advantage in your decarbonization strategy.,” indexlains Paulo ALMIRANTE, ENGIE Senior EVP for Renewable Energy, Energy Management and Nuclear Activities.
Google and ENGIE have jointly signed several corporate green PPAs, collaborating on many significant milestones and innovations.Europe’s first 24/7 carbon-free energy contract, a solution that uses artificial intelligence to optimize wind energy management. This new corporate PPA with Google supports both Google’s 24/7 carbon-free energy goal and ENGIE’s clean energy strategy.
