The Harborough District Council is investigating why a council member was removed from the Audit and Standards Committee meeting in March.
Questions from the Liberal Democrat Phil Knowles to Conservative Party leader Philip King at the last Trustees meeting showed the trustees attending the committee and sitting in the gallery listening to the debate on “Report 6”. “I was ordered to leave the chamber.
“This is when the recommendation to exclude all non-members of the Audit and Standards Committee was passed by a majority vote rather than a unanimous vote.
“I believe that the exclusion of members like this is unprecedented, or at least highly exceptional.”

“Report 6” comes out of the committee’s agenda to refer to the discussion of the internal audit plan.
Cllr King replied: This time, however, legal advice will be sought to ensure due process has been followed in accordance with the Council’s Articles of Incorporation before making a decision to exclude. “
