Clover Park School District announcement.

Elementary school students from Clover Park School District (CPSD) put on chef hats and created their favorite dishes to enter the annual Future Chef Cooking Competition.
An overwhelming 59 applicants across all 11 CPSD elementary schools submitted their tastiest recipes to reimagine their favorite school meals. From the applicants, 18 finalists were selected to participate in this year’s competition.

The concept of the Future Chefs Culinary Competition is to educate elementary school students about the importance of creating and maintaining healthy eating habits. Students are encouraged to take an active role in health care by preparing simple, health-conscious meals. This event provides students with an opportunity to showcase their culinary skills while learning about kitchen safety, food preparation and nutrition.
“Future Chef’s Culinary Competition is a great opportunity to see the four pillars of student success in action,” said Superintendent Ron Banner. “Finalists led the preparation of individual recipes while carefully working with staff in the kitchen. I am confident that these students will continue to be lifelong learners in the kitchen and future career paths.” doing.”
Students were provided with professional kitchen stations and supporting student nutrition staff members as resources. In true chef fashion, finalists used a variety of cooking utensils and appliances to withstand the ‘heat’ of the kitchen to prepare a variety of sweet and savory creations. Within two hours, the students enthusiastically presented their dishes to the panel of judges. The jury consisted of Board Director Carol Jacobs, Student Nutrition Operations Her Manager Dre Harried, Capital Projects and Risk Management Executive Her Director Jon Boatman.

Judges awarded top prizes to students in five different categories, while family and community members voted for the People’s Choice Awards for students who attended the meal the most.
