BOLDER COUNTY, Colorado, November 15, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Community Foundation Boulder Countyhas been a trusted philanthropic partner of the county for over 30 years and today announced it will present the 2022 Stan Black Award to Sheriff Joe Pele.
“This award is meant to honor someone like Stan who gave his community a lifetime of time, treasure and talent. I was living a normal life,” said Eric Schoenborn of the Community Foundation. “Our county’s longtime sheriff, Joe Pele, has demonstrated his commitment to the Boulder County community throughout his illustrious 43-year career in law enforcement, including volunteering and partnering with community foundations on several programs. I can’t think of a more deserving winner.”
The Stan Black Award is named after one of the founders of the Community Foundation Boulder County. Black actively participated in several causes, both in the Boulder region and abroad. The award is awarded annually under the auspices of the law firm of Hutchinson, Black and Cook, with the additional support of individual donors.
“We are particularly honored to receive this award from the Community Foundation Boulder County, which we have relied on so many times,” said Sheriff Pele. “The Foundation has helped this community through fires, floods, and mass shootings. We are very proud to have been given this very special recognition by a wonderful organization. Thank you.”
Sheriff Pele has been with Boulder County Law Enforcement since 1980 and worked for both the Sheriff’s Office and the Boulder Police Department before being elected Boulder County Sheriff in 2003. He has held the position for 20 years, after he retired early next year. Year. Pele is a Colorado native who grew up in Boulder and graduated from Fairview High School in 1977.
