The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was the largest recipient of corporate donations from Gujarat between 2017 and 2021, beating parliament by 16 times, the Association for Democratic Reform said in a report on Sunday.
According to the report, four political parties – BJP, Parliament, AAP and SKM – received corporate donations worth Rs 17.406 crore from 1,571 donors in Gujarat from 2016-17 to 2020-21.
Over the past five years, BJP has been the largest recipient of corporate donations, reaching Rs 163.54 crore from 1,519 donors, the report said. Meanwhile, Congress earned just 1.046 billion during the period.
The party was also the largest beneficiary of corporate donations in fiscal year 2018-19, worth Rs 4.622 crore from 524 donations, almost 18 times the parliament’s Rs 261 crore.

Newcomer Aam Aadmi Party received only Rs 3.2 lakh in total in corporate donations over five years with no donations between 2017 and 2020.
Citing data submitted by the party to the election commission, the report said that out of the Rs 401.458 crore corporate donations received by the party over the five years, 4.34 percent or Rs 17.406 crore came from Gujarat. rice field.
Overall, the total amount of donations declared by both national and regional political parties in their annual audit reports was Rs.1274.561 billion. Of this, Rs 10,471.04 crore was declared by his eight national parties and the rest by regional parties, the report said.
Elections for the 182 seats in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly will be held in two stages. 89 seats on December 1st, 93 seats on December 5th, the counting of votes will take place on December 8th.
