WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — An organization that ignites the potential of children in our area made a special stop at the KFDX studio.
Big Brothers Big Sisters honored our parent company, Nexstar, as Corporate Sponsor of the Year.
We at KFDX are so grateful for this award and appreciate our partnerships with local non-profit organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Executive Director Dwayne Bivona said they couldn’t do what they’re doing without the support from the businesses, organizations and people of Wichita County.
“Children who go through a BBBS program have the advantage of having a mentor in their life who cares about them, befriends them, avoids risky behavior, is more likely to graduate, and is more likely to graduate. Whether you have a job or go to college after graduation, those are the things we keep track of and you’ll see the difference,” Bivona said.
In case you missed it, Wichita Falls Mayor Steven Santerana posted a challenge on Facebook while volunteering at Soups and Socks.
He posted a photo of main caster Lauren Linville and her child, and Santerrana said he’d sign up as a big brother once he got 1,000 likes. If I have time, I will be your big brother.
