Baraka Power Limited, a publicly traded power generation company, has been awarded the Bronze Award in the power generation category of the 2021 Best Companies Awards by the Institute of Cost Management Accounting (ICMAB), Bangladesh.
It is the sixth time since 2012 that Baraka Power has received this prestigious recognition from ICMAB for good corporate governance.
The awards ceremony was held on Thursday (December 1) at the InterContinental Dhaka Hotel in the capital.
Minister of Commerce Tipu Munsi graced the event as the guest of honor, and Professor Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) was present as a special guest.
Baraka Power Managing Director Fahim Ahmed Chowdhury received the award from the Minister of Commerce.
Md Monirul Islam, Director (Finance); Monowar Ahmed, Chief Financial Officer. Mirajul Karim (GM (HR & Admin)) and Mohammad Rana (DGM of Corporate Affairs from Baraka wear) were also present.
Barka Power has previously received this award for five years: 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2019. Baraka Power is the only private power generation company developed by a group of NRB investors and a group of local entrepreneurs. The company was incorporated in 2007.
ICMAB introduced the Best Companies Award in 2007 to recognize the best companies in the country and encourage other companies to demonstrate good corporate culture and management.
