Bangladesh has been unanimously elected as a member of the Federal Council’s Executive Committee (ExCo) for the 2022-2024 term.
The Federal Executive Committee is composed of 16 members, 8 of whom are the most contributing member states and 8 from the four regions.
Bangladesh has been elected as a member of the Executive Committee (EC) from the Asia-Europe region, according to a press release issued by the Bangladesh High Commission in London.
The Executive Board is empowered to oversee all financial, personnel and administrative matters of the Federal Secretariat. The Commission also makes federal policy recommendations.
Bangladesh has also been unanimously elected as a member of the Federal Accreditation Commission for the 2022-23 term.
The Commission serves as a subcommittee of the Executive Committee of the Federal Secretariat (ExCo) and is composed of eight members. Other members of the Commission include Australia, India, New Zealand, Ghana, Grenada and Fiji. The Commission will scrutinize the membership of new affiliated agencies of the Commonwealth.
Bangladesh’s unanimous election to the Executive Committee (ExCo) and Accreditation Committee reflects Bangladesh’s deep commitment, contribution and leadership in the Commonwealth of Nations, the first international organization Bangladesh has joined after its independence. Saida Muna Tasneem, Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK and member of the Commonwealth Council, will represent Bangladesh on both committees.
