In 2022, athenaGives added 24 clinics to its free clinic partnership program. This program provides free access to AthenaHealth’s clinician experience and support services. The program currently serves 418 free charitable clinics across the United States. By partnering with free charity clinics across the country, AthenaHealth provides these clinics with vital support, enabling them to reach underserved patients and communities with quality care. In 2021, clinics participating in AthenaHealth’s free clinic partnership program saw a 119% year-over-year increase in patient visits and served more than 1 million patients. Of these patient visits, 54% were from low-income postal codes.
Also in the US, AthenaHealth has partnered with MedShare. MedShare is a humanitarian aid organization dedicated to improving access to healthcare by sourcing high-quality surplus medical supplies and equipment and delivering them directly to marginalized communities around the world. In 2022, Athena Health assembled her 3,000 MedShare Clean Birth Kits designed to create a safe and hygienic birth environment for women in these communities. Many women do not have access to quality maternity health services. Because each kit contains materials for the baby and parent, the kit could affect her 6,000 lives.
In India, athenahealth achieved a significant milestone in partnership with Smile Foundation through its Smile on Wheels program in Chennai, serving over 20,000 patients in just over a year. Following this success, athenahealth plans to expand its Smile on Wheels program to Bangalore. Smile on Wheels is a national mobile hospital program focused on serving disadvantaged children and women. Through this program, AthenaHealth provides financial support to Smile on Wheels mobile health units to provide primary health care services to underserved communities.
India’s leading hunger relief organization, India Foodbanking Network, has partnered with AthenaHealth to fight India’s child malnutrition rates, which are among the highest in the world, in schools in Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune.
